This Sunday, join us for the Modzi AIR Open Studio. It’s a celebration of what our artists-in-residence have been working on and you’re invited to be part of it!
🌱 Mapopa Hussein Mandahas now been awarded the longest residency this year to build a art farm installation where he transforms the Modzi grounds into a food heaven. Alongside, his mixed media paintings tackle overlooked political and social questions in Zambia’s social landscapes.
🎨 Cecil's Art a Ndola-based emerging mixed media artist and art teacher, works with fabric, thread, and recycled materials. Inspired by music and cultural teaching, her practice is a journey to exploring more on artistic voice.
🔥 Djo Kit, a Congolese visual artist, reflects on the legacy of Patrice Émery Lumumba. His sculpture Jardin des Blessures ‘Garden of Wounds’ is based upon his performance piece that he did at the Biennale de Lubumbashi in 2024 and Centre d’art Waza in 2023 and now in Lusaka. He is opening dialogue about his struggle and relevance today through the eyes of Congo’s neighbouring countries on Patrice Émery Lumumba as an ancestor.
🎧 DJ Max Tassan is a French DJ based in Kigali. She is an emerging DJ, spending her residency researching the influences of Afro House within Lusaka and strengthening her performance style with special effects and technical language.
